Yo, I’m Ben!

Yo, I’m Ben! Who am i?

To understand why you’re here, you first need
to know a little bit about me.

My Dad owned a battery retail store in LA where I would put all of his inventory on Magento sites and shill products in Yahoo group forum chats. It was wild.

When business started booming, I hired my friends to come work for me. (Low key starting my first incubator at 16, but I wasn’t trying to be Erlich Bachman, promise!)

On the side, I’d flip BoostMobile phones, Nike dunks, anything I could get my hands on.

Later, I invested in some restaurants and nightclubs, but fell back in love with the internet game again after 2008 when all my investments and capital dried up!
(Hint: Don’t invest in restaurants and nightclubs).

For the last 10 years, I’ve been slangin’ apps  with the two agencies I CREATED: Neon Roots and Rootstrap

I’ve worked with everyone from Fortune 100 brands (Google, Disney, Salesforce) to scrappy start-ups. And coached thousands of business owners and agency founders on how to build more scalable digital products in any industry – IoT, enterprise software, healthcare, media, games, AR/VR, and beyond.

My team has shipped code that you probably have installed on the device you’re reading this on right now, namely Spotify, MasterClass, & Quartz.

Through my agency work, I’ve scored on Inc’s 30 Under 30 Most Brilliant Entrepreneurs in America list in 2016, and was voted Forbes Top 15 Tech Influencer to Be Following

Oh wait, did I forget to mention I was an influencer?!
Truthfully, I think that term is cheesy AF.

But I have developed an audience of over 200k+ across all my social channels (when I realized it was a unique way to get leads). On LinkedIn, my weekly stories have generated over 100M impressions...and while that’s cool to some, it truly matters because of the goodwill it’s brought my team.

I’ve gotten to work with a handful of celebrities ranging from Snoop Dogg, Tony Robbins, Seth Rogen, Karen Gillan, Chelsea Handler, and Molly Bloom. Hey, famous people need apps, too!

And while the agency hustle has been fun, my real passions are education and community.
I got the education bug while teaching at USC years ago. I led a class called: “Storytelling through Augmented Reality” at the Annenberg School of Journalism, which was the first-ever Augmented Reality course taught in a major university. It was awesome!
Since then, I’ve done guest lectures at Cornell, LA Film School, and Harvard.

Fast forward to 2020, and I’m going all-in with business mentorship and coaching.

I currently run one of the top communities on Facebook for creatives, agency owners, and consultants, The Creative Playbook, and also just released a 4hr+ Masterclass (that’s completely free) to help business owners survive the pandemic.

Occasionally, I’ll have spots open up for my Executive Coaching so if you’re interested and you’re a founder of a venture-backed company, or you’re an agency owner that’s looking to scale your growth and add another zero onto your revenue, definitely give me a holler.

Also, I do these Mastermind weekends. They’re small and invite-only, so email me to see if your business is a fit.

I truly love what I do and building brands with people that inspire me everyday. I love connecting with people who are like minded and will genuinely try to reply back if you find me on social and throw me a shout.

Much love,
Ben
